Ways Out Hong Kong is a social enterprise that upcycles household food waste into jewelry and uses it as a creative nudge to advocate for environmental sustainability through education and to empower young underprivileged women in Hong Kong by providing them with flexible work and training.
Hong Kong disposes over 3,302 tons of food waste every day, which is the equivalent weight of 230 double-decker buses and only 4% is recycled. Meanwhile, young underprivileged mothers in HK are marginalized with limited resources where 1/5 women are living in poverty with less than HKD10K per month (£1000).
Transforming waste into wonder, we embody the essence of sustainability and female empowerment in our circular economy model. We craft exquisite jewelry from fruit peels and veggie scraps, provide education on food waste through collaborations with Corporates and non-profits and empower young underprivileged women to shine bright with their talent.
