Sustainability Statement

The Good Clothes Show is committed to delivering a curation of great brands, people and information, working toward change in the fashion industry.

Representing a range of ventures from small start ups to larger established brands, The Good Clothes Show works in collaboration with thought leaders and change makers who share a vision of a more sustainable, fair and inclusive fashion industry, and have the courage and passion to lead that change. While we may all be at different stages of our journeys to a brighter fashion future, we share the same destination, and we know that working together is the only way we’ll get there.

With a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, The Good Clothes show is committed to:

Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

Engaging the mainstream market is the best way we know to propel visionary brands and sustainable business forward. Building the financial strength and success of sustainable fashion paves the road for a just transition from the current fast fashion scenario, which leaves people and the planet behind, to a more fair and inclusive industry.

Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Working with brands, creatives and industry voices, The Good Clothes Show will showcase and collaborate with innovators in the sustainable fashion movement whose processes, technologies and craft are dedicated to changing the landscape of production and consumption.

Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

While the best and the brightest of the sustainable fashion movement work tirelessly to transform the industry for good, there are many things we can all do to mediate fashion’s impact on climate change, people and planet. Building on the concept of the three R’s of environmental protection, Reduce Reuse Recycle, The Good Clothes Show will also celebrate the concepts of Repair Rewear and Repurpose.

Actively engaging our guests in seminars and workshops to share knowledge and skills that will empower them to take control of their individual fashion footprint is one of the many ways we will take action for a better future, today.

Goal 14: Protect Life on Land

The Good Clothes Show works with partners who prioritise the sustainable use of the natural environment, materials and certifications – and who support measures to support biodiversity. We also work alongside exhibitors who commit to zero deforestation and place a key focus on the recycling of pre-consumer and post-consumer waste, including zero waste pattern making.

‍In addition to aligning with these goals, we ensure that our exhibitors, partners and sponsors make a commitment towards the objective of fostering a circular economy by designing for circularity, ie. incorporating the reuse of products and materials into their business models.

‍Responsible business practices that prioritise people and planet over profit is the focus of The Good Clothes Show and the community we represent is the future of fashion.

Goal 15: Protect Life Below Water

Healthy oceans and seas are essential to our existence and cover 70% of our planet. In order to protect the seas, The Good Clothes Show aims to work with brands who incorporate steps to address the shedding of fibres from their products, as well as clearly disclose a restricted substances or manufacturing restricted substances list. For smaller brands, this could be outlining information on the responsible chemicals it uses in the processing of fibres, textiles and finished products.‍
