My work has evolved from combining my passions of up-cycling and textiles. I enjoy combining textile techniques with discarded or unloved items like plastic bags and clothing and either mending or transforming them into limited edition, unique clothes, and accessories.

Shashiko Mending Workshop

Do you have an old pair of jeans that have a rip? Or a denim item that needs mending? Come and join me @lila.rose.clothes at my Sashiko workshop where you can learn how to fall back in love with your old clothes and save them from landfill.

Sashiko is a Japanese form of repair and translates directly as little stabs. Sashiko is typically carried out with a white cotton thread on indigo fabric. This visible mending technique has been practiced in Japan for thousands of years

Some sewing skills would be an advantage but not essential as there will be opportunities to learn Sashiko, the Japanese art of mending.

Be inspired to breathe new life into your old clothes and make a small difference to our planet.
